Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated AI for India 2.0 on World Youth Skills Day, a free online Artificial Intelligence skill or AI training course in Indian languages, on Saturday. This NCVET and IIT Madras recognized online program, a collaborative project of Skill India and GUVI, will provide youth with frontier skills.
GUVI, a firm established at IIT Madras, is a technology platform that facilitates tech learning in vernacular languages. This platform was created in 9 different Indian languages.
The Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, stated that technology should not be held hostage by language and advocated for technology courses in Indian languages.
According to an official statement, Dharmendra Pradhan noted that this is a good start in breaking down language barriers in technology education and future-proofing our Yuva Shakti, particularly those in rural areas with AI Training.
The minister also stated that India is a technologically advanced country, citing the success story of digital payment uptake in India as an example.
Mr. Pradhan was happy that GUVI had taken the steps to educate the bottom-of-the-pyramid population about cutting-edge technologies.
