Twitter vs. Threads

Threads App despite a dip in usage, Meta’s competitor for Twitter has crossed 150 million users. It was released on July 5 for iOS and Android users in 100 countries, and it is now one of the top free apps on the App Store. Within seven days of its introduction, the app had more than 150 million downloads globally, according to Data.ai.

“It achieved that 5.5 times faster than the second-fastest to that point, Niantic’s Pokemon GO, which has held the largest app launch title since it debuted in July 2016,” according to the research.

Threads was the fastest growing app, with over 100 million users in the first five days of its release. The true test, though, is yet to come, and it has to be seen if Threads can maintain user engagement.

According to recent data, it has achieved the most user presence in certain areas, with India leading the way with around 32% of its downloads. Following India is Brazil, which accounts for over 22 percent of Threads installations, and the United States, which accounts for nearly 16 percent of the total.

Mexico, with 8% of downloads, and Japan, with 5%, round out the top five markets for Threads, according to the research. The app had 2 million sign-ups in two hours, 10 million users in seven hours, and 30 million in 12 hours. Join Threads, an Instagram app.
