Google Chat will soon provide message Interoperation between Slack and MS Teams.

Google’s Workspace applications have been getting additional functionality. After adding Duet AI features to Google Mail, Google Docs, Slides, and Drive, in addition to a fresh screen update for Google Chat, Google’s native chat client has received an additional major boost. Google Chat, which is powered by Mio, a cross-platform communication tool, will soon provide messaging connectivity with other messaging services such as Slack and Microsoft Teams. 

Google introduced the new functionality in a blog post today, saying, “If your business employs a mix of messaging solutions, you can now use Mio to allow message interoperability between GChat and other platforms such as Slack and Teams” This functionality is now being examined in beta. The feature is scheduled to be released in 2024.

Google Chat now has an interconnection feature.

According to the website post, using this function will be simple because Mio will perform most of the hard work. Users may integrate Google Chat with other messaging solutions in the business to receive all communications on a single platform and react to them from a single window.

The blog post explained why this capability was included, saying, “We know that communication and cooperation occur across various channels and tools. This can result in missed messages, communication silos, and an unpleasant experience monitoring several chat tools”.

Will also support voice messaging.

Google Chat will soon come with a native function for sending voice messages. The site refers to it as audio snippets, and it is advertised as a tool that may “save typing while allowing recipients to understand the tone as well as the context of the message.”

According to 9to5Google, this functionality will be available in the initial period of 2024. Its goal is to improve team cooperation for Workspace users. It is unclear if the capability is available solely for conversations in groups or also within individual chat sessions.
