Google’s Workspace applications have been getting additional functionality. After adding Duet AI features to Google Mail, Google Docs, Slides, and Drive, in addition to a fresh screen update for Google Chat, Google’s native chat client has received an additional major boost. Google Chat, which is powered by Mio, a cross-platform communication tool, will soon provide messaging connectivity with other messaging services such as Slack and Microsoft Teams.
Google introduced the new functionality in a blog post today, saying, “If your business employs a mix of messaging solutions, you can now use Mio to allow message interoperability between GChat and other platforms such as Slack and Teams” This functionality is now being examined in beta. The feature is scheduled to be released in 2024.
Google Chat now has an interconnection feature.
According to the website post, using this function will be simple because Mio will perform most of the hard work. Users may integrate Google Chat with other messaging solutions in the business to receive all communications on a single platform and react to them from a single window.
The blog post explained why this capability was included, saying, “We know that communication and cooperation occur across various channels and tools. This can result in missed messages, communication silos, and an unpleasant experience monitoring several chat tools”.

- Google Workspace Business Starter,
- Business Standard,
- Business Plus,
- Essentials Starter,
