What is Zalgo or Glitch Text?

If you spend time on Reddit, TikTok, or gaming forums, you have likely seen text that looks like a corrupted computer file or something out of a horror movie (l̵i̵k̵e̵ ̵t̵h̵i̵s̵). This is universally known on the internet as Zalgo Text or Glitch Text.

The Technoloft Glitch Text Generator allows you to turn completely normal text into this creepy, chaotic format instantly. You can copy and paste the corrupted result into Instagram bios, WhatsApp messages, YouTube comments, and gaming usernames.

How Does Glitch Text Actually Work?

It looks like a computer virus, but it is entirely safe! Glitch text relies on a feature built into all modern computers called Unicode Combining Characters.

In standard languages (like French or Spanish), combining characters are used to add small accents to letters (like adding an accent over an ‘e’ to make ‘é’). However, the Unicode system does not limit how many accents you can add to a single letter. Our generator abuses this rule by stacking dozens of weird mathematical and historical accents on top, underneath, and across the middle of your standard text, creating the chaotic “glitch” effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will pasting this break my phone or computer?
No, it is 100% safe. Glitch text is just standard text with a lot of heavy formatting applied to it. While it looks like a computer error, it cannot harm your device, carry viruses, or corrupt your files.
Why does it look different on different websites?
Because Zalgo text stretches vertically, some websites and apps will “clip” or hide the top and bottom of the text if they have strict line-height spacing rules. If your text is getting cut off, try unchecking the “Going Up” and “Going Down” boxes in our generator and using only the “Middle” glitch.
Can I use this for my Instagram Bio?
Yes! You can copy and paste this text directly into your Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok bio. Just be aware that because it uses so many hidden accent characters, a short 5-letter word might actually count as 50 characters toward your platform’s bio character limit.
